During the Covid lockdown in India, my parents, my twin and I were stuck together. We tried making most of this situation and created a ritual of playing cards every night at 7pm. This was a time of bonding, anger, happiness, cut-throat competitiveness and everything in between. One particular game that we played most days was Mendikot. It required teams, so it was us twins vs the people who gave birth to us, and our team's loss was fairly perpetual. However, so many card games are based on luck, so we used that as an excuse for our loss and to soothe our wounds.

This work is a very physical representation of that time; the tension between luck and skill, us and our parents, and the hard drive to win against the soft backdrop of a loving household, the realisation of which only occurs after the game is over.

*Mendikot - A game in which each time tries to collects the 10 of all suites through the hands that they make.
